Is Virtual IOP Right for You?

Our virtual intensive outpatient program is designed for adults who need structured, frequent support and want to keep working, studying, or caring for family while they get it.

  • Depression or anxiety that isn't improving with weekly therapy or medication alone
  • Stepping down after a hospital stay or PHP and needing continued structure
  • PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, or panic affecting daily functioning
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns
  • Living outside DFW, or unable to commute to a clinic 3 days a week
  • A private, reliable internet connection and a quiet space for 3-hour sessions

Not sure which level of care you need?

Our clinical team does a confidential assessment and recommends the right fit — virtual IOP, in-person IOP, PHP, or standard outpatient care. There is no obligation.

Mon–Fri 7:30 AM–5:00 PM · Sat 9 AM–1 PM (Central)

How Virtual IOP Works

The same evidence-based curriculum as our on-campus program, delivered over secure, HIPAA-compliant video.

2

Choose a morning or evening track. Small groups (8–10) led by licensed therapists, covering skills for depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, relationships, and relapse prevention.

3

Progress reviews & step-down planning

Regular progress reviews, optional weekly individual therapy, and a transition plan to ongoing care when you graduate. Need medication management? We schedule it separately with our psychiatric providers.

What Patients Say About Our IOP

"It has been a year since I placed myself in the Allen Psychiatry PHP / IOP program. It is decision I am happy to have made. In the program, I was challenged by the session leader, and others in the group, to do the tough job of looking inward. During this journey, I was supported not only by the staff, but by others within the group. These are people I will never forget. They are all with my every day helping me to be a better version of myself. This combined with the individual sessions I now attend, has helped my with my condition of CPTSD, and other that stem from it. I feel healthier, more joyful, and most of all increasingly freer of the weight I had carried for so long. The Team here are all wonderful, and work well together to support the individual and the collect in groups sessions. There is so much more that I want to say. Simply put? These folks are wonderful, and they all have my gratitude. I write all this to say, if you are struggling, need help, and want ""it all"" to change for the better, I could not point you to a better group of people to help you find your way out of ""it.""

Virtual IOP FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first session

Three sessions per week, three hours each, for 8–10 weeks on average. We offer a morning track and an evening track so you can keep work or school commitments.

For many people, yes. Our virtual groups use the same curriculum, therapists, and progress measures as our campus program, and your care team reviews your progress regularly. If in-person care would serve you better, we will tell you and help you transition.

Anywhere in Texas. State law requires that you be physically in Texas during each session. You will need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera.

Medication management is not part of IOP itself. If you need it, we can schedule it separately with one of our psychiatrists or psychiatric nurse practitioners, by video, as its own appointments alongside your program.

Yes. Our programs treat co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions, supervised by psychiatrists dual-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Medical detox is not provided; we will help you find appropriate care if detox is needed first.

Same-week starts are often available once your assessment and insurance authorization are complete.

Most plans do not require one. Some HMO plans do — call us and we will check for you.

Yes — most major insurance plans cover intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization (PHP) care. Our PHP/IOP coordinator confirms your coverage during the confidential assessment, before any commitment.
