Important safety considerations

Spravato is not appropriate for everyone. Per FDA labeling, it should not be used if you have aneurysmal vascular disease, an arteriovenous malformation, or a history of bleeding in the brain, or if you are allergic to esketamine or ketamine. Spravato can temporarily raise blood pressure and cause sedation or dissociation, which is why every session includes on-site monitoring under our REMS-certified program — and why you cannot drive until the next day after each session. Tell your provider about all medical conditions, medications, and any history of substance use; your evaluation will confirm whether Spravato is safe for you.

Everything you need to know about Spravato treatment

Any amount not covered by your insurance is the responsibility of the patient. We'll inform you of your estimated costs before your appointment so there are no surprises.

Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray medication for treatment-resistant depression and depression with suicidal thoughts. It works differently than traditional antidepressants, often providing rapid relief of symptoms within hours to days rather than weeks.

Spravato is self-administered as a nasal spray under medical supervision in our clinic. You'll relax in a comfortable room during a 2-hour monitoring period. The medication is given twice weekly for the first month, then weekly, and eventually every 2 weeks for maintenance.

During treatment, you may experience mild dissociation (feeling disconnected or 'floaty'), which typically lasts 1-2 hours. Most patients find this tolerable or even pleasant. You'll be monitored by our caring staff throughout your visit to ensure comfort and safety.

Common side effects include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, and increased blood pressure during treatment. These effects are temporary and resolve before you leave our clinic. Spravato does not cause the weight gain or sexual side effects common with oral antidepressants.

Many patients notice improvement within hours to days of their first treatment, though individual responses vary. This rapid action makes Spravato particularly valuable for severe depression or when quick symptom relief is needed.

Most insurance plans cover Spravato for treatment-resistant depression. Our team handles the prior authorization process and will discuss your specific coverage and any copay assistance programs available to minimize your out-of-pocket costs.

Most insurance plans do not require a referral to see a psychiatrist or therapist. However, some HMO plans may require one. Check with your insurance or call us and we can help verify.

We accept most major insurance plans, for a majority of services, including Medicare. Our billing team will verify your benefits and explain any costs before your appointment. We also offer self-pay options with transparent pricing.

You have two options: pay our self-pay rates, or we can file the claim as an out-of-network provider on your behalf. With out-of-network filing, higher deductibles and coinsurance typically apply, and your insurance may not cover the service at all.

We understand that life happens. To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice for new patient appointments and 24 hours’ notice for follow-up appointments, during regular business hours. Appointments can be managed through our patient portal or by calling our office. Same day cancelation & rescheduling fees are as follows: - New Patients Medication Management (48 hours): $150.00 - Follow Ups Medication Management (24 hours): $100.00 - TMS, Spravato, PHP & IOP (24 hours): $100.00 - Psychological Testing (24 hours): $200.00 - Therapy (24 hours): $150.00

Due to state laws and regulations, patients must be in the state of Texas at the time of their virtual appointment.

Payment is due at the time of service or before your appointment. We require a valid credit or debit card on file for all patients.

We do not currently accept Medicaid. However, we offer competitive self-pay rates and flexible payment plans for patients without commercial insurance coverage.
